Bent County Jail Facility
Bent County Jail replaced the 1902 jail beside the courthouse. The modern facility was built in 1999 and 2000, opened in 2000, originally had 46 beds, and was expanded to 94 beds in 2020. The inmate's name and ID number must be clearly printed on the envelope or postcard. Regular postal mail, including letters, greeting cards, postcards, and pictures, is scanned into the system and made available through kiosks.

Inmates can order commissary weekly, and orders are due by Sunday evening. The jail no longer accepts money orders or checks through the mail. Bent County Jail vs DOC
Local jail custody and DOC offender records should not be merged. Bent County Jail handles local custody, pretrial holds, bond, local agency holds, transport, visitation, phone, mail, and commissary. Colorado DOC offender search is for sentenced state-prison or parole status. A person may pass from arrest to jail to court to DOC, but each phase creates a different record.
CBI ICHC is different again. It is a Colorado-only criminal-history search and does not provide live jail custody, visitation status, bond, or full court docket documents. For current custody, call the jail. For court charges and case outcomes, use the court docket and record request process. For sentenced state custody, use DOC.
